Depression therapy

When you’re living with depression, even the smallest tasks can feel overwhelming. You might feel numb, hopeless, exhausted—or like you’re just going through the motions. If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to face it on your own.

I’m Katy, a BACP Accredited therapist offering depression therapy in Farnham and online. I provide a warm, non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about how you’re feeling, at your own pace, without pressure or expectation.

What is depression therapy?

Counselling for depression offers a supportive space where you can explore what’s going on beneath the surface of your low mood, sadness, or emotional fatigue. It’s not about being “cheered up” or told to think positively—it’s about being met with compassion, understanding, and curiosity.

Whether you’ve been living with depression for a long time, have recently noticed changes in your mood, or simply feel stuck in a fog you can’t explain, therapy can help you reconnect with yourself and begin to move forward—gently and gradually.

Signs you may be experiencing depression

Everyone’s experience of depression is different, but common signs include:

  • Feeling sad, numb or hopeless most of the time
  • Difficulty getting out of bed or finding motivation
  • Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Withdrawal from friends, family or daily life
  • Constant fatigue, low energy or trouble sleeping
  • Difficulty concentrating or making decisions
  • Negative thoughts about yourself, your future, or your worth
  • Feeling like a burden, or like nothing will ever change

If you’re feeling any of these things, please know it’s okay to reach out. Depression is common—and treatable—and therapy can be a powerful step toward healing.

How therapy for depression can help

Depression often makes people feel isolated or disconnected—from others, from themselves, and from the things that used to bring meaning or joy. In therapy, we create space to explore that disconnection in a safe and supported way.

As a person-centred therapist, I won’t try to “fix” you or tell you how you should be feeling. Instead, I’ll meet you with empathy and respect, helping you make sense of what’s going on at your own pace.

Together, we’ll explore what your depression feels like, where it might stem from, and how it affects your day-to-day life. Therapy can help you begin to:

  • Understand and validate your feelings
  • Notice patterns and triggers
  • Reconnect with your needs, values, and sense of self
  • Develop healthier coping strategies
  • Feel less alone and more supported

There’s no quick fix—but with time and care, depression can become more manageable, and life can begin to feel a little lighter again.

What to expect

I offer depression therapy both in-person in Farnham and online, depending on what works best for you. You don’t need to have a diagnosis or a clear reason for how you’re feeling—you’re welcome just as you are.

Sessions are 50 minutes long and are available as short-term or ongoing therapy.

You’re welcome to book a free 15-minute intro call before starting.

If it's more convenient for you, you might like to take advantage of online sessions.

You don't have to go through this alone

Depression can make it hard to believe that anything will help—but reaching out for support is a powerful first step. You don’t need to have all the answers, or even the words to describe how you’re feeling. Therapy is a space where you can simply be, and begin to feel a little more connected, understood, and supported.

If you’re ready to explore therapy, or just want to ask a few questions, I’d love to hear from you.
